"Robots"
This video was very interesting. Now I have a better understanding of the term singularity. It is sad that robots are taking over so many of our jobs, and it is surprising that they are cheaper to buy than it is to pay humans. Again it seems to all come down to money, like many things in life. Humans loosing jobs and robots taking them does not seem to play in much to company's, just the fact that they could save some money and make more. I hope there are still some companies out there that stand for creating more jobs.
"WATSON"  wow Watson is really smart and really fast. I'm thinking it is just programmed to recognize certain words that would lead to the answers that it gave. I'm still not thinking it has any kind of humanness even though they were able to make it sound like a human. Just a computer doing its thing!! Really fun to watch.

"Singularity"

Singularity is a supposed moment in time when artificial intelligence will have progressed so much that it is to the point of passing human intelligence. Some think that there may come a time that we will no longer be in charge but computers will be. It is true that artificial intelligence has grown exponentially for years now and there are is such unfathomable artificial intelligence out there that almost all of us can not even understand. But all this is possible because of the intelligence of humans. If singularity were to become a reality, it would greatly change civilization. Life for us will no longer be the same.
I being of average intelligence would like to believe that the "smart" humans that are inventing and creating super artificial intelligence would include such things along with everything else that would always insure that we control and demand all actions taken by artificial intelligence making sure that singularity never happens. Then again I would have to assume the reason that a person or company would push for more and more levels of advancement in artificial intelligence would be for either the all mighty dollar or for recognition. That being said, if that were the case I suppose a person may continue with their pursuit even with the threat of singularity happening.  Maybe they assume it will not happen in their life time, so it doesn't matter. Basically I am just left wondering why would this happen if it is us doing it, and why would it not be stopped if it known that it may not be good for us??? Just like all other things above my intelligence level, I am sure there is just so much more I do not understand about this topic and the people involved.
I still would like to believe there is nothing that compares to the human mind and there is not any artificial intelligence that could really surpass it. As far as I know computers or technologies can not choose things based on gut instincts, they can not over come difficulties based on drive and passion and they do not have compassion while making decisions. With out these and other human characteristics any sort of intelligence is just plain old lacking in its capabilities. Now if I am wrong and computers and programs are capable of doing these things....well then I know even way less than I originally thought and we are all in trouble.

Flatworld!

This is a fascinating article about a new perspective on things that I have never thought of before. The most alarming part to me is that the education of my children may be obsolete soon. I work very hard in many ways to ensure my children are getting a good education, but now I wonder what is it really worth. What is my education really worth? I will be meditating on the information in this paper for awhile!!

SKANKBLOG
Wow...this article about a model who is suing Google for being called a skank on a their blog site is entertaining.  My first reaction to it was...well if she wasn't at the club acting all like that then people wouldn't write such things about her. But then again maybe it is not true...although there was a not so nice picture to go along with it that make a good argument. This is a tough subject because because after further research the author accusing Liskula Cohen of being a skank was revealed by Google when her privacy was supposed to be protected. So on the one hand, I would be very upset and feel violated if someone was defamating  my character for all to read, and I would feel violated if Google revealed my name in this circumstance. This is a tough one and I'm not totally sure  where I stand.
Facebook Activist
In the article, Middle East Uprising: Facebook's Secret Role in Egypt, it addresses Egypt in 2011 when the people protested against the president along with other issues. It resulted in getting the president out, but cost many people lives and many injured.  This article claims that Facebook helped protect activists sites as the protests approached.  One in particular page was named "We are all Khaled said" and it had 400,000 fans. They are saying that Facebook left the page up until the day of the election and even protected it therefore having views that support the revolt. I myself do not know what to think about this, I'm not sure if it is good to let people have the freedom on Facebook to fight for rights or if it is not OK, but now that I have seen this I will be considering it much more.
Amnesty International
This is an amazing website that focuses on Human Rights and the fight to improve them. I respect the fact that it is independent from government, political ideology, economic interest, or religion.  It is an informative site revealing the travesties that are happening all around the world with a desire to help and pitch in. It runs solely on memberships and donations. The most fascinating part is that a person is able to search their library full of years of their fight against human rights with over 50,000 reports, press releases, and appeals.
